CYCYW?: Chapter Three

Actually, Xiao Yao had already received his telephone bill that morning.

In one breath, he had actually managed to spend $100. Afterwards, he had placed his phone in the office and left to input data into the computer. In the afternoon, he was muddled due to forgetting the teaching material. This caused him to not be in the right mindset to remember to look after his phone.

It wasn’t until he had finished eating his evening meal and had started to relax, that he remembered to take out his phone.

“Honoured Customer, at 21:06 on November the 3rd, your account balance totalled -233.33 Yuan. As you are a star customer, you are able to enjoy a total overdraft of 10 Yuan…【China X Move】”

Xiao Yao: ……

I owe how much?

He had already read through the entirety of 《Little Wolf》once. In fact, he didn’t mind if he didn’t read it again, but he should speak his innermost feelings.

He…urgently wanted to know what happened in the follow-up story.

Before he knocked on the front door, he suffered through many mental struggles. He even considered lifting his feet and running back home several times. In the end, he forced himself to stay. The caveman life was very, very, very, very boring. As such, he had no choice but to lower his noble head and ask the owner of that irritated ‘I’m not going to give you a hint’ to borrow some wifi. [1]

Who would have guessed that the owner was the person he had met downstairs in the afternoon.

When he opened the door, Xiao Yao was stunned. Was he originally a neighbour?

Looking closer, he seemed to be a little shorter than he’d thought.

He was quite cute.

“I moved in yesterday. Because it was rather rushed, there wasn’t time to set up the internet. It’s troubling because I have work that I need to urgently do. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but can you allow me to connect to your wifi?” Xiao Yao explained.

This wasn’t exactly false. He did have work he needed to do. There was a pile of forms he needed to fill out on the school website. Plus, he also had to fill out a class table. This being said, 《Little Wolf》 was, without a doubt, a big factor.

“Eh?” Upon hearing this request, Ti Xiao was promptly dumbfounded and scratched his head.

His neighbour wanted the wifi password?

Furthermore, this neighbour, that was closely examining him… seemed a little taller? Suddenly, he hated iron for not becoming steel.

Ti Xiao didn’t know that when he scratched his head, his eyebrows furrowed and his cheeks unconsciously bulged.

Yet Xiao Yao didn’t know that, while he was standing in front of someone else’s door, his eyes were condescending, his figure was tall, and the shadow he cast completely encapsulated Ti Xiao. It caused Ti Xiao to be restless, as if Xiao Yao could smash through the entire door.

“If it’s inconvenient…” Xiao Yao wilted, hesitantly looking at Ti Xiao. He took a slight step back, signalling that he was about to turn around and leave.

“It’s convenient, it’s convenient. Particularly convenient.” It was hard to wish for a romantic interest to visit, so Ti Xiao wouldn’t easily let him go.

He had originally intended for this password to be only shared with himself, but now he had to share it with him, too.

“19930604Xiao.” Ti Xiao recalled. He rattled the English numbers off smoothly before saying, “The X is capitalized, don’t forget.”

Xiao Yao lowered his head to look at his phone and began inputting the numbers. As soon as he pressed enter, the message signifying a mistake popped up. He faintly knitted his brows, suddenly filled with a little regret about asking to borrow wifi. He shook his head. “Wrong.”

Ti Xiao suddenly remembered something. He curled his lip and gritted his teeth. His innermost struggle evident, he said, “Try ‘the cutest xiaoxiao in the world’. Make sure to use only lowercase.” [2]

This was the result of Ti Nanyi coming to his home to help him install and change the wifi.

It means that xiaoxiao is the cutest in the world.

The fact that Ti Nanyi had managed to live up until now was indeed a miracle.

The first password Xiao Yao had entered allowed him to make approximate guesses about many things. For instance, he could guess that his neighbour was born in June 1993, and that his first name was probably ‘xiao’. Although the man was rather short and his hair was very cute, he didn’t expect that he actually had had this style of painting. [3]

Xiao Yao laughed in his heart at this extremely amusing name.

“How are you spelling it?” Ti Xiao asked, in fear that he didn’t know. “C, u, t, e, s, t.” [4]

“En.” Xiao Yao didn’t raise his head at all as he inputted the password. As an English teacher, if he didn’t know how to spell this simple word, he should just quit.

At last, the password was correct. As Xiao Yao saw that little drawing in the upper right of his screen, he finally relaxed. As expected, he was finally a modern man again.

“Thank you. I’ll invite you to a meal another day.” Xiao Yao said.

Although this was said out of politeness, he really did plan to invite him for a meal another time. After all, he didn’t want to unexpectedly owe another person something.

In comparison, Ti Xiao didn’t take these words as a mere courtesy. Every day he spent drawing at home with his cat caused him to lose another piece of his social skills. Thus his loose mouth made a slip of the tongue and said, “I am free now. There is no need for it to be another day.”

They were both startled at the same time.

Ti Xiao wished he could shove his fist in his mouth. Is it possible for him to restrain himself?

Xiao Yao fell silent, feeling more and more of his understanding of the man topple onto the floor. He looked at him and opened his mouth. “In that case, what do you want to eat?”

Ti Xiao was really brave to ask someone out to eat in this cold and deadly weather. Moreover, he unexpectedly remained solemn as he answered, “No, no, no. I was just kidding. Go back and freeload of my wifi or something. Treat it as my gift.”

Originally, this was why he had given it.

Xiao Yao silently noted down this favour and nodded his head. In his heart, he had actually figured it all out.

“Then, thank you for this.” Xiao Yao looked at the messages on his phone and prepared to head back. But just as he was about to turn around, he was stopped by Ti Xiao’s cry of “wait a minute!”

He looked at the man whose thoughts had started to stir. He couldn’t help but notice that even the hair looked a little cramped. Ti Xiao drummed his foot on the ground as he worked up the courage to open his mouth, the light reflected off his eyes in fractured bits.

“This… what do I call you, ah?”

Just then, the voice-controlled lamp acted just in time and turned off, increasing the darkness. The light behind Ti Xiao was now the only light left. It suffused his body with a slight halo. As he stood with fear and trepidation in his eyes, his whole body was highlighted by this warm colour.

“Xiao Yao. The ‘xiao’ in ‘brave and battle-wise’ (骁), and the ‘yao’ in ‘Yao and Shun’ (尧). He didn’t know why but, the moment Xiao Yao caught sight of this warm colour, he felt the urge to raise his hand and play with his little hairpin.

Then, he did just that. The hairpin on Ti Xiao’s forehead bounced a few times, and his eyes widened even further.

This, this…? What was this?

“Goodnight.” Ti Xiao heard Xiao Yao say. Then, he watched helplessly as he turned around and walked to his room.

He found that this ‘goodnight’ was especially pleasant to hear.

As the sound of a gate swinging shut was heard, two people with different thoughts leaned against the building. One’s heart was pounding, while the other didn’t realise what was going on.

——————

Editor Gua Pipi: What about the draft? When can I see it? 🙂

Ti Xiao looked at this message, and his heart trembled. Normally, as long as Ti Xiao was serious and earnest in working hard, Gua Pipi was gentle, polite and respectful. But, if Ti Xiao delayed in handing in his draft, Gua Pipi would change tactics. This smile of Gua Pipi could evolve into one that could make anyone tremble with fear.

Zhiyong Shuangquan: Soon! Soon! I promise to give you the person the protagonist receives by 22:00!

The time —— “21:21”.

Ti Xiao: …… Can I withdraw?

However, sending out this message was like spilling milk, there was no way to take it back. Ti Xiao pulled out his draft. At the very least, he had some professional attainment. Moreover, this was the individual who had been occupying his mind for the last few days.

He merely picked up his pressure-sensitive pen and pressed down. As a few lines appeared on the screen, Ti Xiao rubbed his hands together and whispered one thing: ‘homosexuality delays work.’

When it comes to this neighbour, he would never be afraid.

[1] – Haha, just thought I’d make a note about how all those “very’s” were in the raws. Poor Xiao Yao really hates living like a caveman. ;;

[2] – This was written in English, hence why it was later explained like two sentences down.

[3] – In case you were confused, his password was ‘19930604Xiao’. 1993 = Year, 06 = July, 04 = Day. Xiao = First name. Really a silly password, haha.

[4] – Um, in the raws the author seemed to have spelt ‘cutest’ as “c,u,t,s,t”. I’m assuming that was a mistake, so I corrected it. ^-^
